Time to ditch the pre-Christmas diet: Cellulite-busting control pants promise to ’shave three inches of fat in just 21 days’

For the majority of women, the most they can hope to get from their underpants is to cover up the inevitable lumps and bumps.
But a new type of underwear claims to be able to melt away cellulite and burn calories by gently massaging the skin.
PeachyBody pants, available from Debenhams, can slim the waistline, buttocks and thighs by up to three inches in just 21 days, the makers claim.
Made from a tightly woven polyamide material similar to 62 dernier tights, they work by massaging the body to improve blood flow.
A 3D wave effect in the material gently squeezes the skin as the wearer moves, compressing fat cells together with excess liquids in the subcutaneous layer of skin.
The compression and the body’s natural warmth stimulate the break-down of retained fluids, toxins and fatty deposits, which are then excreted through the liver and kidneys.
Tests by the manufacturers, PeachyPink, claim to have shown that just wearing the pants can use up 60 to 70 per cent of one day’s average calorie intake – about double the calories shed with normal daily activity.
Extracts of familiar ingredients in the new material, called Polyamide Meryl Skinlife, help the process.
Peaches moisturise the skin while green tea acts as an anti-oxidant and coffee bean extracts eliminate excess water.
If worn for eight hours a day on 21 consecutive days, the pants can lead to a more toned figure, shaving one to three inches off the behind, according to a test of 100 women conducted at Tokushima (corr) University, in Japan.
The pants were launched by Debenhams yesterday (Mon), and are tipped to become a must-have stocking filler.
It is hoped that women will turn to the underwear instead of resorting to cosmetic surgery.
Annette Warburton, head of lingerie buying at the department store, said: ‘Pre-Christmas is the peak shopping period for nip and tuck undergarments.
‘But shoppers are increasingly savvy about the range of ’shapewear’ available on the High Street. With Christmas parties fast approaching, a product that slims, lifts and smoothes the skin is this year’s undercover essential.
She added: ‘With nearly 90 per cent of women suffering from the dreaded orange peel effect, we predict a sell-out result.
‘Debenhams lingerie departments are bracing themselves for the stampede of women looking for the Holy Grail – underwear that combats cellulite meaning no need to skip the Christmas indulgence.’
The pants, available in black and nude, cost £25, or £30 for a high-waisted version. Leggings, available in black, cost £38.
Earlier this year John Lewis unveiled pants and leggings that claimed to shave one inch off hips and thighs by heating up the body.
The Scala Bio-Fir knickers, made from a yarn embedded with bio-crystals, broke store records with 25,000 sales a month after their launch in July.( source:dailymail)
